What should a bathroom renovation cost? Why are my quotes tens of thousands of dollars apart? And if I pick the cheapest one, am I going to regret it? If you are planning a bathroom renovation in Ancaster or Hamilton, these are probably the questions keeping you up at night.

Most contractors will not share bathroom renovation pricing until they are standing in your home, and even then the numbers can be hard to compare. One quote leaves out tile, another skips permits, and a third looks reasonable until the change orders start. It is hard to plan a home renovation when you do not know what a fair price looks like.

We think you deserve real numbers before you ever pick up the phone. That is why we published our own Bathroom Renovation Pricing Guide, and every figure below comes straight from it, based on the work we do in homes across Ancaster, Dundas, Hamilton and Burlington.

What is the bathroom renovation cost for each tier?

A full 4-piece bathroom renovation with JJ Legacy costs $21,000 to $100,000+. A 3-piece bathroom runs $18,000 to $79,000+, and a powder room runs $6,500 to $21,000+. Where your project lands depends on the tier you choose, whether your layout stays the same, and the materials you select.

We build three types of bathrooms, each in three tiers. Here is the full breakdown from our 2026 guide.

Tier4-piece3-piece2-piece (powder room)
Signature$79,000 to $100,000+$68,500 to $79,000+$16,000 to $21,000+
Legacy$39,500 to $54,500$39,500 to $50,000$9,500 to $13,750
Minimum$21,000 to $27,500$18,000 to $24,000$6,500 to $9,500

Minimum is a clean, code-compliant refresh. Your layout stays the same, and you get vinyl flooring, a prefab vanity, a prefab tub surround and Moen fixtures. It suits homeowners who need the basics handled well.

Legacy is a popular tier for homeowners who want a bathroom they will love for years. It includes 3D design renderings, a built-to-order vanity, tile flooring, a tiled shower with a quartz-sill niche and Lauretta Design fixtures.

Signature is a fully custom build. It adds heated floors, floor-to-ceiling tile, frameless glass, a smart toilet with built-in bidet, permit coordination, a dedicated project concierge and three years of Legacy Care maintenance after we finish.

What changes the price of a bathroom renovation?

Two bathrooms that look alike on paper can cost very different amounts. Five things move the number most.

Layout changes are the biggest one. Moving a toilet, drain or supply line means opening walls and floors, which adds $2,000 to $8,000 or more. Older Dundas homes with cast-iron stacks can be more involved. Keeping your existing layout is the single best way to save money, and a good designer can often get you the look you want without moving plumbing.

Tile selection is where quotes swing the most. Large-format tile, floor-to-ceiling coverage and mosaic accents all add material and labour. Fixtures and finishes can shift your total by $2,000 to $10,000 or more, since a $1,200 faucet feels and lasts differently than a $300 one.

The scope of demolition matters too. Subfloor replacement, structural repairs or asbestos abatement are more common in heritage Dundas homes and older Ancaster Village properties. Finally, permits apply to electrical and structural work, and we handle those in-house with the City of Hamilton and the City of Burlington.

What happens when you choose the lowest quote?

A lower number can look like savings at first. But when a quote leaves out proper waterproofing, quality materials or a defined scope, the cost usually shows up later. One of our clients learned this the hard way before calling us:

“We hired the cheap bid first and paid for it twice. Tile lifted within a year, the vanity warped, and the ‘savings’ turned into a $20K tear-out and redo. JJ Legacy is what we should have done from the start.”

–Phill C.

Paying a fair price once is almost always less than paying twice, which is why who you hire matters as much as the number. JJ Legacy Contracting is veteran owned and BBB A+ accredited, and holds a Master Contractor License, a Master Building Repair License and Home Inspector certification. Our work is backed by a lifetime craftsmanship warranty, kept valid by annual professional maintenance, and Minimum bathrooms carry a three-year workmanship warranty.

How does a JJ Legacy bathroom renovation work, and how long does it take?

Every project follows the same five steps.

  1. Qualifying call. A free 15-minute call where we learn about your space, your budget range and your must-haves.
  2. Design and product selection. The pricing guide is your starting proposal. We walk through tiers, materials and finishes together, and your choices shape the final scope.
  3. Price locked. Once your design and materials are selected, your number is confirmed and locked.
  4. Scheduled build. Every trade is booked and every material is on-hand before we touch your bathroom.
  5. Legacy Care. Signature clients receive three years of maintenance after we finish.

Design, product selection, ordering and scheduling take three to six weeks. Active construction then runs three to five weeks for a full bathroom and one to two weeks for a powder room. Legacy and Signature clients get daily updates with photos throughout the build, and Minimum clients get updates at each milestone.

Frequently asked questions

Will my price change once the project starts?

No. Your price is locked once your scope and materials are confirmed, with allowances for tile, stone and fixtures built in. It only changes if you choose to add something mid-project, and that is always your call and priced clearly before we go ahead.

What happens if something unexpected is found inside the walls?

It can happen, especially in homes built before the 1990s, where rotted subfloor, knob-and-tube wiring or asbestos are possible. We run a pre-construction assessment to flag risk areas before demo. If something truly unforeseeable surfaces, we document it, price it clearly and get your approval before going any further.

How do I choose between the three tiers?

Start with how long you plan to stay and how you use the space. Signature is a spa-grade room you never have to think about again, Legacy suits homeowners who want to love the space and see it reflected in their home’s value, and Minimum is a clean, functional result without custom elements. We walk through all three together on your qualifying call.

How disruptive will this be to my household?

A bathroom under construction is unusable, so it helps to plan for that. If it is your only full bathroom, we talk through sequencing on your qualifying call. We clean up at the end of every workday, and Signature projects get sealed containment and HEPA filtration.

A bathroom you will not have to think about again

The goal is not just a new bathroom. It is walking in each morning knowing the job was done right, the price never moved, and you will not be doing this again in ten years. That peace of mind starts with a clear plan.

We would love to talk through your bathroom with you. A qualifying call takes 15 minutes and costs nothing. Reach out to JJ Legacy Contracting to book yours today.
